Chien-Ming Wang

Chien-Ming Wang is the one of my favorite athletes. He is now a pitcher in New York Yankee. I like him not because he is a Taiwanese but also because he is humble. He always concentrate his mind before he pitch the ball. Last year was his second year in New York Yankee but he got 16 victories, the most victories in the Major League Baseball. He also became the first Taiwan-born pitcher to win a postseason game in the Major Leagues. So far, he cannot go to court to pitch his first inning in the third year because he was hurt. I hope he can recover soon and help Yankee to win the games.

horrible

There was a horrible accident happen few days age. A Korean immigrant killed 33 people including him on the campus in Virginia Tech with gun. It is the deadliest shooting rampage in modern U.S. history. I actually feel sympathy towards these victims and these victims’ families and also sorry about this gunman. I think he had a mental health problem but he could not get any help. He was always alone and didn’t want to open his mouth to strike up a conversation to others. I think for him there is no reason to live so he chose this way to kill himself. But I think he should not kill others. These people even didn’t know him but they died with no reason. I hope the similar accident couldn’t happen again.

raining

There have been two heavy rains this week! Rain makes subway stuck in the track. Rain makes people got wet. Rain makes me down.
The terrible thing is that the rain are with the heavy wind. Even though you have a umbella, you still got wet!! The funnist thing is that you can see many broken unbrellas "died" on the street. I just bought a new unbella, but it was broken when i used it in the first time. Don't rain!! Give me a blue sky back!!

who am I

Today I went to a speech, and the speaker asked us to write down three to five works to describe myself. When I took subway home, I have been thinking over this question. I am a person who doesn’t like to talk to strangers, and most people think I am quiet when they first meet me. Actually after I am familiar with them, they will say I am a kind of humor. I am a person who likes challenge and doesn’t like unchangeable life. I am a person who hates people who are selfish and don’t respect others thought and feelings. I am a person who likes people who are knowledge but humble. I am a person who likes hang out with my friend but sometimes needs to be alone. I am ................
I think it is a interesting question because it make you think about who you are!! If you don’t understand yourself, how do you ask others to understand you??
P.S today is a Friday the thirteen. I lost my subway card I just bought the day before yesterday!! How sucks!!

Friends

“Friends” is a famous situation-comedy in United Stated. It premiered on 1994 and ended on 2004. The first time I watched it was 2002. I watched it because I want to learn English. After I started watching it, I fall love with that. Although it ended, I still watch them when I am bored now. I bought the complete set of DVD. The show is about six friends in New York as they navigate their way through life and learn to grow up as they approach the third decade of their life. Chandler and Monica are so sweet couple. Although Monica sometimes likes to control everything and Chandler likes to say something not interesting, I think love can make people learn to accept others’ weakness. Ross and Rachel ended up being together after breading up several times. I am so touched when I saw Rachel showed up in the Ross house. Phoebe and Joey are the funniest characters in this show. Sometimes I felt sad, and then I watched the shows. Phoebe and Joey’s conversations in the shows always let me forget the sad things.

Chinese restaurant again

My professor invested us to go to “East”, an “all you can eat” restaurant in flushing on April 5. . Although I just write that I want to try the American food, the reason I went there is the price in flushing’s restaurant lured me and my professor is an Asian. It takes one person $11.5 at lunch time every weekday. You can eat the food you saw there unlimitedly. The dishes they serve are not bad. It includes cooked shrimps (I am a shrimp fever, Ha), lamb, different kinds of sushi, sashimi, roasted chicken wings, Hong Hong’s dim sum, roast Beijing ducks, oysters, fried fishes, egg custards and various kinds of fruits and cakes. Actually, I was so confused about the price. The cost of ingredients here is higher than Taiwan. On the other hand, the price here is lower than Taiwan.
With our big bellies, we decided to go shopping to digest food. We went to queen center mall and try on “a lot of” clothes, but I only bought one great clothes which just cost me $4 dollars and my friend even bought nothing. HA, I like to shopping and eating.

Eating

I have been here for almost three mouths. My friends and I always have a reunion in Asian’s restaurants. Not only it is cheaper but also it is near our school. We went to Korean’s BBQ, Thai’s food, and certainly Chinese restaurants. My favorite is the “little fat sheep” which is famous chain store in China . It is famous for its hotpot. With Chinese medicine, the soup smells good and taste delicious. And another restaurant I like is Hong Kong restaurant “du chan”. It sells Hong Kong’s desserts such as different kinds of dumpling and buns.
Although I like Asia’s food, I want to go to different countries food like American or India. I almost forget I am in New York now.

Spring is in the air

Yesterday, as usually, I wore the chunky sweater and overcoat to go to school. After I went to school, I feel so embarrassed. I saw a lot people wearing short T-shirt or even a sleeveless T-shirt. My classmates told me the temperature was almost 70 degrees. It reminded me of the day when I went to Boston during spring break.. The temperature changed quickly in U.S.A. The first day I stayed in the Boston was 5 degrees. The day after, it surged to 30 degrees. Now, I know I had better check the temperature before I go out every day.
Now I am so delighted that spring. I saw some students sitting on the beaches and talking each others in campus. Some students play ball on the ground. Unlike winter, spring is full of life. I am full of energy.

I like to travle. I have been to 15 countries. Do you think it a big number? No, It only accounts for 6% of all countries in the world. It is hard to live in U.S.A

My Taiwan hold the travel visa when she entered in United Stated. Because her friend lives here and introduced her a job. Fortunately, she got a job here. But now, she is so troubled about her visa. First, she should hire a lawyer and help her to complete all documents for applying her H1 visa. It takes her $150/an hour in the first cousulting. Then she maybe spend more than $5000 finishing all the process. In addition, if she wants to keep the visa, she need to pay extra fee every year. Second, there is a limit number in H1 visa every year. Now, she just can apply the 2008 H1 visa and she can't go to work until October(If she got a permisiion). She didn't have a good pay to cover all these expenses, so she hesitated if she will leave. I think to live in USA is not a easy thing. Prices are higher in New York. So..I consider about wheater i stay here to find a job after i finish my master degree or go back to Taiwan.

the sky in New York

People maybe say that the weather in New York is sucks—it is hot in summer and cold in winter. I think so, too. However, I like the sky in New York. The sky in New York is always blue since I came here. I don’t know why there is always no cloud and the sky is so “clear”. How beautiful it is!! I like this sky, especially in the sunset. You can see “Big Sun” down and the color changes to purple. I went to Empire state building and went to the top to see New York’s beautiful sunset scene in this spring break. The view really makes me touched. It is more beautiful than I thought. If my friends ask me where to go in New York, I will strongly recommend this spots.

Snap out of it!!

Doesn't happy time fly? I had a great time in spring break, but now I am supposed to come back to my normal life - go to school, do homework, and study hard. I have been New York for two months, but I found my English has not improved very much. When I went outside or watched TV at home, I couldn’t understand others' talking. I can't express my opinions fluently. When I do my writing homework, I still had a lot of errors in my essays. I am so disappointed myself now. Sometimes I want to give up and come back my hometown. However, I need to snap out of it!! I know I need to keep going rather than staying!!

Cook

When I was in Taiwan, my mother always cooked for me. I seldom went to kitchen to cook myself. Even though my mother was not at home, it was very convenient to buy food near home. After I went to New York to live myself, it is so expensive to eat outside, and sometimes I miss my homemade food. I decided to learn how to cook and I found it was not a hard thing. I like to toast bread with ham and cheese or with peanut butter as my breakfast. And I tried to make Chinese food such as minced beef with tofu, fried bacon with cabbage, soup with chicken and Chinese mushroom, vegetable rice, and rice cake. If I don’t have much time, I can cook dumpling. I also make the sweet dumpling with sweet rice sauce and steam the bum as my dessert. When I write this articles, I suddently feel so starving. HA!!! I will go to eat something!!

Be celebrity is really good?

Recently, I heard some news about Britney Spears, a famous pop singer “before”. I am so sorry about she should enter a rehabilitation center because of her wired way these days. After she became famous around the world, there were always a lot of paparazzi around her. She always has a lot of negative news, including her love story with other famous singer, Justin, her marriage for a few hours, her second marriage with the other guy, and her bizarre action after divorcing, such as going to heavy parties, wearing no panties under her short skirts, and shaving her head and getting a new tattoo. I wonder you should pay the ultimate price if you are a celebrity. If I were her, I would choice be a normal person.

Union Nations

Today Chad took us to Union Nations, a place not belong to New York even U.S.A. But it is very important and special. Although Taiwan is not a member of Union Nations, the goals of Union Nations are all we want—peace and freedom. Who like War?? Teresa’s blog write something about Taiwan and China. Afterwards, some debate between Chad and Steven. Actually I don’t care what happen in the future. I just need the world will be peace in the future. A battle is cruel. A battle is cold-blooded.It will make you lose you family. It will make you lose you possession. Why we not negotiate by peace? I know the politics is complicated. But I WANT PEACE.
Bty, thanks Chad to take us to this special place again. What is the next place you can take us to?? HA!!

Is it a real snowstorm?

The weather forecast reported there was a snowstorm on Thursday or Wednesday. I expect it not only because the school will close class in these days but also because I never seen the heavy snow. I know it is not good news to some people. The snow storm will bring out a lot of trouble. I heard there were 25 people died in northern New York State becasue of the snow. But I still want to see a real snowstorm. On Wednesday, it really happened. Although the class were closed , I was so disappointed. At least in my house, the snow storm was not that thing I thought. I thought the snow will so heavy that you can't go out. But there was just a thin snow on the ground. However, the worst thing was it was suck cold when the ice melted, and I still need to go to school today.

YA!! Spring break is coming!!

Yes!! I know spring break was a long way off and we need to take mid exam before this holiday. I still expect it. My friend from Taiwan will come to see me. That is why I am so excited.
A lot of things we can do in New York. I want to see a great Broadway show!! I want to see a NBA game and a ice hockey game!! I want to go to Boston to eat lobster. I want to go to time square to experience New York life. Certainly, I will go to the status of liberty, although it is smaller than I thought!!Actually, the thing I expect most is to see heavy snow here because it never happened in Taiwan.
What do you suggest us to do??

On a diet

I hate American food. But I also like American food. I remembered that we done orientation when we came to school first day, the lunch is just a sandwich and chops. It was not a “real” meal in my mind. It just a sandwich!! I like to eat rice and hot soup as my mail so I cook myself everyday in American.

On the other hand, I found something I like in America—the cup of ice cream and peanut butter with chunk. Those are high calories food which will make you fat. I can finish a cup of ice cream in one day. I can eat half bottle of peanut butter without anything, like toast. It is terrible. I think I gained 2 or 3 kilograms these days. I am not sure. Maybe more. Actually ,I afraid to weigh. I don’t want to face the figure.

I need on a diet now. NO EXCUSES. The one thing I should do first is not to buy these trash food again.

I love my dear roommates

I have two roommates. I love them very much although we just knew less than one mouth.

One of them is from Taiwan. When we met first in our apartment, she looked so cool. We don’t talk too much, and then we dispersed to our room. On the other day, I cried in my room because I just arrived in New York and missed my parents so much. She gave me a note through the crack. She wrote she could talk to me if I felt lonely. I felt so sweat and we started our relationship at that time.

One of the other is from Japan. She just moved into our apartment last week. There is always a sweet smile on her face. The day before yesterday, after I finished my class and cooked in the kitchen, she talked to me enthusiastically. We done a lot of cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Japan, including food, movies, and so on. I think it is also a good opportunity to practice my English. We talked almost one and half hours, the longest time I spoke others in English since I gone to New York. HA!!

I know that living with strangers is a tough thing. But how lucky I was!! I have two lovely roommates.

My room

When I get St John's acceptance letter, I am worried about where I live in New York. My friend told me there was a available room downstairs her apartment. I decided to rent it although I never seen the apartment.

I like my apartment when I first seen it. It is a three-room apartment. I live in the largest one and I have my own bathroom. There is a little balcony outside my room and I can see a beautiful view, a park with green meadow, blue sky with little cloud, and a free trees. Especially after snow, it is another beautiful scenery.

I should share kitchen and living room with my roommates. Actually it is not a bad thing. I like to cook with my roommates and have dinner with them. We always have happy time when we eat together. Let make me not to feel lonely in New York.

I like my room. Even though it is small, it is comfortable, warm and with love.

I want to live in airplane’s business class

I like traveling. But I hate I need to take airplane when I go aboard because of turbulence.
I ever dreamed that one day I will have a door which you can go everywhere when you open it . ( this idea is from the cartoon "Doraemon") When I decided to go to New York to study, the first words that came to my mind are“Oh, I need to stay in the airplane almost sixteen hours again. How terrible it is!!”

Fortunately, I was be upgraded to business class this time, because the flight was heavily overbooked and I am a VIP of Cathy pacific airline. I am soooooo excited about this because it was my first time in the business glass.

When I found my seat, the first sight met my eyes was a comfortable chair and you had a large sitting space. Unlike the chair on the economy glass, the chair on the business glass can be adjusted like a bed. You can lay at full length on the chair. The food in the business class is also different from in the economay. They serve appetizer, main course, and dessert including cheese, fruits and drinking. They also serve some snacks like instant noodles and ice-creams when you feel hungry. There is a drinking list (including a lot kinds of tea, soft drink, coffee and wine) on the menu. You can order it whenever you want. The other thing I want to mention is that there are a lot of choice on the TV show and you can put the “forward” ,“afterward" and “stop” button whenever you want. You can't do that in the economy class.

I am like a queen in this flight. It was the most wonderful flight in my life!!
